Reading Goal Progress:

This year I have read 36 books so far! My 2017 goal (for now) is 50 books, which means I am 7 books ahead of schedule and 72% of the way to 50. I’m feeling really good about my progress! I’m also hoping that my first read-a-thon (starting this weekend) gives me a solid boost so that I can up my reading goal again! 🙂

Notable Posts by Others:

  • A Super Basic Guide to Requesting Physical ARCs by Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews – Some good tips! I love that she included a sample email template and shared her experiences with specific publishers. Mostly geared towards Australia, but can definitely be generalized.
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Kinds of Summer Readers by Holly @ Nut Free Nerd – I adore this list! So many fun categories, I definitely fall into a few myself. Take a look and see if you can find yourself on this list. 🙂
  • Pacific Islander Books and Erasure by Anjulie Te Pohe – A topic I haven’t really seen discussed at all and something, as a white American, I really know nothing about. Very educational!
  • Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons to Love Your Library by Holly @ Nut Free Nerd – I LOVE libraries!! My life has changed for the better since I’ve gotten a library card. Also note that most libraries allow you to borrow eBooks as well. 🙂

Blog Stats:

  • I currently have 53 followers, which is up from 43 last month.
  • In July I had 145 visitors, which is 47 less than in June, womp womp.
  • I published 11 posts in July, which is on par with June, but also behind schedule for where I wanted to be.
  • I had 270 views in July, which is 68 less than June.

As I explained in my last post, I’ve had some stressful work stuff going on and haven’t been getting on WordPress as much as I’d like to! This means I made less posts than I wanted, and also interacted with other bloggers less. I feel really detached from the rest of the bookblogging community, so I’m making one of my goals in August to focus more on interacting with others. My second goal is to attempt to post three times a week! I was getting there, until my little hiatus last week, so I’m sure I can do it.

Reading Goal Progress:

This year I have read 30 books so far! My original goal was 35 for the year, so yesterday I bumped it up to 50. It’s kind of my white whale, for the 3 or 4 years I’ve been keeping track I haven’t hit 50 books. This year is the year, I can feel it. I’ve started prioritizing reading again and I’m loving it!

Anyway, this means I’m 6 books ahead of schedule and have completed 60% of my goal, which isn’t too shabby for being only 50% through the year.

Notable Posts by Others:

Blog Stats:

  • I currently have 43 followers, which I feel is pretty good, since I started this blog at the end of April.
  • In June, I had 190 visitors, which is over 4 times as many as I had in May
  • I published 11 posts in June (4 more than May)
  • I had 338 views in June, more than 5 times as many as May!
  • I attribute this growth to connecting more with the book blogging community, blog hopping more, and posting more frequently.

Personal:

  • I went to a Red Sox game with my sister on the 11th and it was loads of fun, even though they lost and we were sad. In a brush with fame, we saw pitcher David Price driving out of Fenway after the game!
  • I FINALLY(!!!) got a Boston Public Library card as soon as I found out that you don’t need to be a legal resident of Boston to get one (I live in Boston currently and still have a New Hampshire license BUT!! my paystub has my Boston address on it and proves I work in Boston)
  • I went on a ROAD TRIP!! My first vacation in years. It’ll have its own post.
  • I went to another Red Sox game with a friend of mine! (If you can’t tell, I kind of like going to baseball games)

May Wrap-up

Hi all! Sorry this is a little late but it is my first monthly wrap-up post, yay! I started this blog just over a month ago and I’m pretty satisfied with how it’s progressed so far, although there’s still quite a ways for me to go. Let’s get started with this!

Books I read:

  • The Goddess Revolution by Mel Wells. 3/5 stars, review.
  • Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang. 5/5 stars, review to come.
  • The Roses of May by Dot Hutchinson. 5/5 stars, review.
  • Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko. 3/5 stars, goodreads review.
  • Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker. 5/5 stars, review to come.

Average rating: 4.2 stars.
Books read: 5.
Comments: It was a good month for good books! I rarely give out 5 stars so I was pretty #blessed in May for good reading. Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance and Emma in the Night aren’t going to be published for a bit, so I’ve scheduled my reviews for a week before their release dates! Follow and/or check back in to see what I have to say about them–hint, it’s almost entirely good things. 🙂

Reading Goal Progress:

25/35 books read in 2017.

My reading goal is almost always 50 books for the year and I’ve never hit it… so I decided to be a little generous with myself this year. I think I read 33 books in 2016, so I decided to shoot for 35. Looks like unless something goes terribly wrong, I’ll hit it! Let’s say 50 is my stretch goal. 🙂

Currently 11 books ahead of schedule for 35, and just a little ahead for 50! Things that have helped have included: using my commute to read eBooks on my kindle and having a consistent work schedule that allows for me to read more after work and on weekends! I’m hoping to pick up my pace a little more, but I’m still happy with how I’ve been doing.

June TBR: A tentative list, but here we go!

  • Policing the Black Man by Angela J. Davis (currently reading)
  • The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls (currently reading)
  • Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

Aaaand, that’s a wrap(up)! How was May for all y’all? My favorite read of the month was probably Emma in the Night. What was yours?? And what are you looking forward to in June?
